Into the woods we go…

That time of the year has come where we escape the city and venture off into the woods, camping!

I’m a total city girl and don’t think that will ever change, but I sure do look forward when this time comes around.

For the past 3 years we’ve been camping at Navajo Lake in Utah. It’s absolutely beautiful! We set up camp right in front of the lake, which gives us the most beautiful views of the field and lake. Mornings are my favorite when it comes to the view. I love how the air is so crisp (if that makes sense) and the the lake is so clear here.

Since we camp in August, we do have to worry about the weather, since it’s monsoon season. Of course this year the weather was looking a little rough when we were going to go. So much that we kept being indecisive on whether to go or not, but we all sucked it up and took the risk. Good thing we did because the weather the entire time was AMAZING! It drizzled when we got there and once everything was set up and dinner was made that’s when it rained for maybe 5-10 minuets and that was the last of the rain we saw!!!!

Most of the time you’ll find the kids playing in or near the lake or fishing. Melia loves to fish. She hasn’t caught one yet, but she sure is hopeful! She reminds me of my childhood memories, with me fishing with my dad when I was a kid, and I loved it!

We explored a little this time and drove around to Lake Panguitch to find other campgrounds for possibly next year, but nothing beats our spot in Navajo Lake.

We also visited Cedar Monumental, which provided us with breathtaking views of the canyon!

I didn’t realize that we were somewhat close to Bryce Canyon, so I’m definitely making it a point to go there next year!!

Now, we all know that when you camp you MUST make s’mores right?!?! Well, have you tried making banana boats!? If not, I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU MAKE IT! It’s seriously so simple and delicious. You slice your banana down the middle and can add whatever toppings you like inside. We added semi-sweet chocolate chips, marshmallows, crushed graham crackers, and chocolate syrup on top. Once you’ve added your topping, wrap it with aluminum foil, and place on top of the grill that on your campfire. I like my toppings all melted, so I say leave it there for about 10-15 minutes, and it comes out so delicious! It’s a dessert that we always have and look forward too!

I will definitely miss waking up to this gorgeous view every morning. Until next time Navajo Lake….
